Pictorialist Group Shoot - Rosary Cemetery in Norwich

Rosary Cemetery in Norwich

On Saturday 12th February at 10am we will gather at the lower entrance to the Rosary cemetery . We will spend the morning exploring the varied sculptures and graves within the cemetery. We will then try and find somewhere for lunch, but as the cemetery is close to Carrow Road and Norwich are playing at home, we may need to travel into the city to find a table!

Rosary Cemetery was the first non-denominational burial ground in the United Kingdom.

The cemetery was established in 1819 by a non-conformist minister called Thomas Drummond. The cemetery came under the control of the Norwich Corporation in 1954. Around 18,500 people have been buried there since 1821. In January 2010 it was granted Grade II* listed status.

More information about the cemetery and some of the notable people buried there can be found at the Friends of Rosary Cemetery website

Please remember to bring along £1 to cover club insurance.

Please note:
Don’t forget to check the arrangements before setting out if there has been extreme weather overnight.
