Membership Handbook - September 2022 Edition

“As we stand on the cusp of a 'new normal' we must look forwards to the next decades and decide how best to manage our Society and provide what the Society members want. This is the reason for a new Member's Handbook containing all the information about how the Society will function, how decisions are made and how we adapt to change” CLICK on the image to download a copy of the Membership Handbook

Health & Safety

The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, of which the Society is a member, advices that photographic societies/clubs do not come under the scope of Health and Safety legislation, However the Health and Safety Executive also states that Users/Hirers (of halls or other venues used for meetings) have a general responsibility for managing risks, so far as reasonably practicable, arising from their own activities when they have control of premises or control of equipment on the premises. The health and safety of members is a top priority and whilst the Society follows the conditions set out by the City Academy Norwich whose hall we meet in we have also established our own Health and Safety Statement which members, temporary members and all other persons are required to comply with when attending meetings of the Society.

During all activities the Society urges members to put health and safety and not photography first. As a photographic society that is made up of individuals NDPS is not responsible for any member who chooses to participate in the Society’s meetings and events. However the following safety guidance notes have been produced so that members can enjoy their photography in safety:

Safety Guidance Note 1 - Landscape Group Shoots

Safety Guidance Note 2 - Studio Group Shoots

Safety Guidance Note 3 - Tom’s Tours

Safety Guidance Note 4 - Nature & Wildlife Group Shoots

Safety Guidance Note 5 - Pictorialist Group Shoots

NDPS Insurances

In accordance with the recommendations of both our Insurance Brokers and the EAF the Society has carried out a Risk Assessment covering our regular meetings.

It is recommended that members’ consider insuring their own photographic equipment as it is not covered by the Society’s insurances.
