Pictorialist Group Shoot - Sainsbury Centre and Exhibition

  • The Sainsbury Centre University of East Anglia, Norfolk Road, Norwich NR4 7TJ United Kingdom (map)

Sainsbury Centre and Exhibition

On Saturday 12th March at 10am we will gather at the entrance to the Sainsbury Centre at UEA. If the weather is poor there is an interesting free exhibition called “Rhythm and Geometry: Constructivist art in Britain since 1951”

As the Sainsbury Centre website shows, it is a futuristic looking building and photogenic in its own right as well as sitting within a sculpture park with many objects of interest. The UEA broad is also close by.

The building was used in Marvel’s Avengers films, this clip is short, probably for copyright reasons, but about 15 minutes at the end of the film was shot in and around the building, which became the Avengers’ headquarters.

After enjoying the exhibition and some photography, the Cafe will be open for those who would like to stay for lunch.

Handheld photography is permitted inside the Centre.

The building is on the UEA campus but is well signposted from the campus entrances. There is limited, free parking available near the Centre. It’s worth going to reception when you arrive to check if you need a free voucher for parking as it seems to vary.

Please note:
Don’t forget to check the arrangements before setting out if there has been extreme weather overnight.

About the Pictorialist Group

The group embraces a wide range of experimental and craft based techniques including paper making, wet photographic processes, infra-red; x-ray; vintage equipment and lenses, alternative lenses, and alternatives to lenses, such as pinholes or even alternatives to conventional cameras!

All in the interests of creating something beautiful, interesting or both.

Please remember, our group can only be as good as the input made by its members so if you are willing to organise or lead any kind of event that you think will be of interest to members, please step forward. Please don’t be shy – all offers of help will be greatly appreciated…!
