A Pictorialist Group Shoot at Ely Cathedral and City

On Saturday 8th October at 10:30am we will gather at the entrance to Ely Cathedral. We plan to spend the morning exploring the cathedral and the city of Ely.

It's Harvest Festival weekend at the Cathedral and a Market day, so there should be plenty to photograph. Ely is also on the Fen Rivers Way and it’s a short walk from the riverside to get out into the Fens.

We'll have lunch at 1:30 at the rear of the Cathedral if the weather is fine, either bring a sandwich or pick something up from a local shop. If the weather isn’t great we can either stay in the Cathedral or sit undercover with a cuppa at the nearby Bagel Factory. We can then continue the afternoon exploring the city, river and Cathedral.

Members will need to buy their own ticket for the cathedral if they wish to visit as well as bringing £1 for club insurance.

The cathedral website can be found here where they ask that tickets are booked in advance, the cost of entry for one adult is £8.50. However, when I visited in August this year there didn’t appear to be an advance booking requirement.

Please note:
Don’t forget to check the arrangements before setting out if there has been extreme weather overnight.

About the Pictorialist Group

The group embraces a wide range of experimental and craft based techniques including paper making, wet photographic processes, infra-red; x-ray; vintage equipment and lenses, alternative lenses, and alternatives to lenses, such as pinholes or even alternatives to conventional cameras!

All in the interests of creating something beautiful, interesting or both.

Please remember, our group can only be as good as the input made by its members so if you are willing to organise or lead any kind of event that you think will be of interest to members, please step forward. Please don’t be shy – all offers of help will be greatly appreciated…!
