Photographer of the Year Round Four (Print)

Each member is entitled to enter ONE free-choice image (POTY 4F) and ONE themed image (POTY 4T).  Details of the theme are provided below along with a brief note of guidance

YOU'RE IN CONTROL OF THE SHUTTER SPEED

Timing is crucial in photography. In camera we control time by selecting appropriate speeds. “Shutter speed” is the length of time your camera shutter is open, exposing light onto the camera sensor.

On the technical side, the shutter speed will affect your exposure. “Slow” shutter speed will allow more light in – making your image brighter, and “fast” shutter speed will let in less light – thus your image will be darker.

But there is also a creative side! And that is what we want to see in your pictures...! By controlling the shutter speeds, we can either freeze action (by selecting fast speeds) or blur motion (slow speeds).

The deadline for receipt of PDIs of proposed entries is 7:00pm on SUNDAY 13th March 2022
