Special Presentation - Rome, in Pictures and Words by Chris Ceaser

  • Norwich & District Photographic Society Norwich Zoom meeting) United Kingdom (map)

ZOOM MEETING

Last July landscape photographer Chris Ceaser delivered an inspirational phoo-talk about his work from the most evocative of places - Venice. Tonight award-winning lecturer on photography Chris is sure to provide another unique glimpse into both his work and his technique when this time we visit Rome.

Rome, the eternal city has an amazing story to tell. Founded in the 6th century BC it has endured times of great loss and periods of domination. Rome's history is all around the city for all to see, with perhaps the highlight being the area around the Forum, the place where it all began. The talk covers the formation of this great city, it's leaders and heroes, the rise and fall of the Roman Empire and the city as we see it today with its architecture and bridges.

As with the Venice talk, this one is accompanied by, and based on Chris's photography and there will be around 50 images on show, with Chris giving insights into how some of the images were made, what was their inspiration and what they mean to him as a photographic artist.

Tonight’s Special Presentation is the last of the 2021-2022 Spring Season of regular photo-talks - the new season of photo-talks will commmence in the Autumn on Tuesday 6th September

About Chris Ceaser

Born in Rotherham, Chris has always lived in the Yorkshire region and currently lives in York. In June 2006 he was awarded a 1st class honours degree in Spanish language from Leeds Metropolitan University and in June 2010 he became an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society. Inn 2013 he opened a 2 room gallery in Micklegate, York and regularly holds exhibitions of his work there. He is an award winning photographer at both national and international level. Chris has also won awards for his talks on photography, which he delivers at societies throughout the region, and here in his own gallery. He is an ambassador for the Canson Infinity range of fine art papers.

Inspired by the regions' exhilarating natural views; from the flower-strewn meadows and stone built barns of the Yorkshire Dales & the heather filled North York Moors, to the cliff laden beauty of Yorkshire's Heritage Coast, he strives to capture natural light to bring his images to life and capture the essence of each location. He has also compiled a powerful portfolio from the Lake District, Northumberland, Scotland, London and, more recently, Venice, Prague and Rome.
