Learn how take Still-Life images using minimal light

Members’ Evenings are an opportunity for members to share their photographic ideas, images, knowledge, and experience in a friendly and supportive environment. Tonight NDPS member Andrew Mott will give a short demonstration showing how he uses minimal light to capture his still-life images. A useful technique to master for the forthcoming cold, wet winter days ahead when you want something to do…!

After that there will be a number of tables set-up around the Interactive Studio for members to compose their own images and try out the techniques.
Bring along your camera, a small hand torch and a tripod. You can also bring along props if there is something you would particularly like to photograpg. But there will be a number of objects that can use in any case.

About Members’ Evenings
At the heart of Norwich & District Photographic Society are the activities that engage the membership and provide opportunities to feed their passion for photography. Whether learning a new technique, taking a photograph for a photographic competition or assignment, attending a photo-shoot and sharing their knowledge with other members, the Society provides a framework for members to be involved in all aspects of photography on a regular basis.

Tonight we welcome Ian Wilson who recently selected the images for our 106th Annual Exhibition.

Printing - Create something that becomes real

While there is joy in taking photos and viewing them digitally, our satisfaction is not properly realised until we have printed our photos. A photo that isn’t printed is like a script that is never performed, or a musical composition that is never played. There is still value in the digital photo, just as there is value in a script or musical composition. But the value is mainly the hope that one day the digital photo will be printed and share a bodily life with us – to inspire us, cheer us, and remind us.

Members’ Evenings are an opportunity for members to share their photographic ideas, images, knowledge, and experience in a friendly and supportive environment. The exact details of the evening are normally published at least two weeks prior to the meeting.
