POTY Round 3 (Digital images)

Each member is entitled to enter ONE free-choice image (POTY 3F) and ONE themed image (POTY 3T).  Details of the theme are provided below along with a brief note of guidance explaining how to comply with the theme.

PAGB Recorded Lecture Secretary/ Member of the PAGB Standards and Governance Commitee/ WCPF PAGB Representative/ Member of the WPCF Judges Training Panel . Peter has over 15 years experience of judging at Club, Inter-Club, Federation and Salon competitions.

Theme - ABANDONED

The word ‘abandoned’ might bring to mind a house, a boat, an old factory, or a truck sitting in a field beside a barn – something that is unwanted that has been left behind and allowed into a state of disuse. But ‘abandoned’ can also be a state of mind – abandoned hopes and dreams, forsaken, deserted. Left without protection, care, or support. Animals can be abandoned..! So, unfortunately, can children.

For this round, a successful image will express abandoned’ literally, metaphorically, or conceptually, and remember your title might provide context for the viewer...!

About POTY

The Norwich & District Photographic Society (NDPS) prides itself on being a friendly group of people all with a common interest in capturing and creating photographic images.  NDPS’s overall aim is that with the support of the more experienced photographers within the Society all members can become the best photographer they can be.

NDPS holds regular competitions throughout the year to give members an opportunity to put their skills into practice, and these are a great way to improve and get feedback on their own photography.

Currently the ‘Photographer of the Year’ (POTY) is the most prestigious competition that NDPS members can enter.

Members entering POTY are expected to have read and be familiar with the document NDPS GENERAL COMPETITION RULES & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY which also apply unless stated otherwise in this document.

POTY Structure

The POTY competition consists of TWO (2) parts. 

In the first part of the competition there are FIVE (5) qualification rounds with members competing in TWO (2) leagues 

In the second part of the competition the THREE (3) photographers in each league with the highest score at the end of the qualification rounds will compete in the ‘Final’ round to be elected the ‘Photographer of the Year’ in a ballot of the members of the Society.
