The Society’s home is the modern and fully equipped Interactive Studio at the City Academy, 299 Bluebell Road, Norwich, NR4 7LP. City Academy Norwich located near the University of East Anglia is a modern building that benefits from state-of-the-art facilities including excellent wi-fi, sound and image-projection systems. There is also ample free-car parking available on site and in addition can it be easily reached using public transport.

NDPS meets throughout the year.  Normally, from the start of September and finishing during the following June, we hold meetings every Tuesday at 7:30pm.  During the summer months we meet informally for photo-shoots and other events.  We shall continue to take advantage of the opportunities that technology provides to develop the most exciting programme possible for the entire membership. Annual Subscriptions

Annual subscription runs from 1st January through to the 31st December each year. Existing members can renew their membership any time after the 1st September each year. Membership automatically lapses on 1st January if a member’s subscription remains unpaid.

Membership for new members who join between September and December and pay the appropriate subscription fee from the first day of January next, will run until last day December the following year (a maximum period of 16 months for the price of 12 months membership).  New members are required to pay their annual subscription upon joining NDPS.  Reductions apply for new members who join NDPS on or after the 1st January, and the 1st April each year,

Effective from September 2023 the annual subscription for the various grades of membership are:

Individual Membership                                                         £47.50 (£45.00 for returning members if paid by 31st October 2023)

Joint membership - married couples and partners
(if paid at the same time)                                                     £90..00 (£45.00 each)   (£85.00 for returning members if paid by 31st October 2023)

Student Membership
(in full time education and under the age of 30)             £25.00

Junior Membership
(between the age of 16 and 18)                                           £25.00

Current members and those joining are encouraged to pay their annual subscription online and details are available from the Membership Secretary: ndps.membership@gmail.com

Honorary Membership may be awarded to a current NDPS member who has shown outstanding service to the Society and to other distinguished persons who have provided support or close connection with the Society or the art of photography within the local community.

Honorary Members are not obliged to pay an annual subscription.

Benefits of Membership

All the above grades of membership are entitled to participate in the full range of activities and other events available to NDPS members including:

  • Attend all regular Society meetings including the annual programme of Special Presentations.  These meetings can take place in a Hall, outdoors, or online normally via zoom.

  • Enter all internal photographic competitions and submit images for selection to represent NDPS in Inter-club battles and external competitions.

  • Enter the Society’s Annual Exhibition and other exhibitions.

  • Join one, two or all of the Society’s Special Interest Groups.

  • Attend workshops and tutorials.

  • Submit work to the f1.4 Group for guidance, feedback, and critique.

  • Receive the eNewsletter - In Focus that is published each month.

  • Access to the Members’ Only areas of the website.

  • Display their own work in the Members’ Galleries section of the website

  • Join the NDPS Members Only Facebook group

  • Stand for election to the Committee, vote in Society ballots and at an AGM and any other general meeting (except Junior members who cannot stand for election nor have voting rights) .

Besides the annual subscription all attendees of regular Tuesday evening meetings held in a hall are asked to pay an attendance fee of £1.50 but car parking and refreshments are both provided free of charge.

To allow members to attend Special Interest Group meetings, workshops and tutorials, and other events on a ‘first come’ basis there is a dedicated web-based booking system displaying each event.  The booking system provides  full details, times, directions and much more, about each event and allows members to reserve their place conveniently from their laptop or phone wherever they are at any time.  An email is automatically upon completion to the member to confirm their reservation.

Other grades of membership

eMembership is available to those living outside the Norwich & District area who are unable to attend regular meetings in person.  e-Members are entitled to:

  • Attend all meetings and Special Presentations delivered online (zoom).

  • Receive the eNewsletter - In Focus that is published each month.

  • Display their own work in the Members’ Galleries section of the website.

  • Join the NDPS Members Only Facebook group.

  • Subject to availability eMembers can attend training workshops and tutorials.

The annual subscription for eMembership is £20.

NDPS Alumni is available for past NDPS members who have moved away from Norfolk or due to personal circumstances are no longer able to attend meetings or practice photography but wish to stay connected to their old friends at NDPS.

  • Attend all meetings online meetings and Special Presentations (zoom) on request.

  • Receive the eNewsletter - In Focus that is published each month.

  • Retain their presence on the NDPS Members Only Facebook group.

NDPS Alumni are not obliged to pay an annual subscription but would be expected to, should their circumstances change to revert back to another more appropriate grade of membership.

Temporary membership

Visitors and  those seeking to join the Society who are over 18 years of age are welcome at any of the meetings except for Special Presentations provided they sign-in on arrival.  After this initial free meeting temporary membership offers the opportunity to learn more about what the Society has to offer before committing to full membership.

Temporary membership – allows prospective members to attend up to six meetings including Special Presentations (both in a hall or online) during the next eight weeks.  Temporary members will also receive the editions of the eNewsletter - In Focus (published during their period of membership).

The cost of Temporary Membership is £10 but this sum will be deducted from the appropriate annual subscription if the temporary member becomes a regular member within the eight week period.

Notes:

  1. All applications  for membership must be made in writing on the Society’s current application form (see link above) and are subject to approval by the committee at their next scheduled meeting.

  2. Disabled persons must be accompanied at all meetings and other events by an adult who will be responsible for their safety at all times.
