Members' Evening - Eaton Park

  • Norwich & District Photographic Society Eaton Park , South Park Avenue, Norwich, Norwich, NR4 7AZ United Kingdom (map)

OUTDOOR SUMMER PROGRAMME EVENT

During the recent shoot in June at Eaton Park a number of members said it was an excellent place to meet in Norwich and commented upon the vast range of photographic opportunities the park presents. Tonight will shall hold another meeting there as many requested…!

In addition, provided the weather conditions allow (dry surfaces) we have managed to arrange with permission of their parents where necessary for a number of local skate-boarders to be photographed in action. Members who wish to take part in thie shoot need to arrive by 6:30pm to be briefed and sign. For safety reasons this part of the shoot is likely to last around 90 minutes..

Strictly speaking the maximum number of people who are allowed to gather at present is 30, so when you arrive please observe the 2m rule and when we know how member members are present we will split up into smaller groups as a precaution.

Eaton Park is one of Norwich’s most beautiful historic parks. There are 80 glorious acres, packed with great things to see and do for all ages. It also has a number of highlights that provide some photographic opportunities including:

  • At the heart of the park is the rotunda; a domed bandstand (where we shall meet) surrounded by four colonnaded pavilions.

  • The boat pond is one of the finest in Europe. Anyone can bring a model boat and sail it here. There’s also a great programme of regattas and events organised by Norwich Model Boat Club..

  • The large sunken lily pond sits in a line between the boating pavilion and boat pond, and the bandstand and rotunda. There are goldfish, and ducks and a heron sometimes visit.

  • A great circular garden where rose beds and herbaceous borders are surrounded by a yew hedge. At the centrepiece is a fountain surrounded by seating.

All subject to good weather - but then we recently had a presentation about photographing whatever the weather…!

Outdoor summer programme events are an opportunity for members to share their photographic ideas, images, knowledge, and experience in a friendly and supportive environment. The exact details of the evening are normally published a week in advance when there is more certainty about the weather.
