Photoshop Training - another good reason to join NDPS.

A successful and instructive second evening of Photoshop training for beginners at the University of East Anglia (UEA) last night given by our Vice-chairman Neil Hall.
Neil covered a number of topics during the evening including the various ways to make Selections, what Layers are and why they are so versatile and useful, and how to use Layer Masks in adjusting and refining our images.

Since the beginning of the Season we have been fortunate to have a continuous influx of new members. Some of these are photographers of great skill and have been developing their photography for many years. An example of this is new member Gary Hagg who recently scored maximum points for two of his images ‘Flower Fairy’ and ‘Golden Cross’ in the first round of our annual ‘Photographer of the Year’ (POTY) competition..

Other new members are just beginning their photographic journey and it is for these members it was decided to arrange a series of evenings giving an introduction to the basics of Photoshop.

Becoming a better photographer involves many things from initial capture,  through post processing to the finished image.  Photoshop was originally created in 1988 and since then, this software has become the industry standard not only in photographic editing, but in digital art as a whole. Learning how to use  Photoshop is therefore an essential tool in this process.

With roots that can be traced back to the middle of the nineteenth century, Norwich & District Photographic Society (NDPS) is one of the oldest photographic societies in the country.  The Society meets every Tuesday night throughout the season at the Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Field Road, Norwich NR2 1SD and during the off-season in the Summer there is also a shorter programme of events.

The annual season has something for everyone being jam-packed with fantastic presentations from accomplished photographers, practical workshops and tutorials, field trips, special interest groups, the usual photographic competitions and so much more...!.
