POTY Round Two results are published

Once again, this season the room at Chapel Field was jam-packed to see our judge for the evening Steve Milner undertake the marathan task of reviewing and scoring eight-six (86) prints that had been entered in the second round of this season’s Photographer of the Year compeition (POTY).

Steve Milner - our judge for POTY Round Two

The theme of this round was ‘The World in Black and White’ with the rules stating that this deliberatly did not restrict entries to monochrome images - allowing members of the Society to be creative if they wished.  However, it was evident throughout the evening that Steve deducted points from any images he considered to be ‘off theme’

New member Murray Raff’s atmospheric image of a zebra was judged to be the best entry on the night with Steve also commending the Society on the generally very high standard of work submitted.

The twelve (12) images that were held back in the first part of the competition are all shown below. The first four images are shown in order (first to fourth place) and thereafter the images are shown highest to lowest score in alphabetical order (Surname A-Z)

Members of the Society who wish to see all the scores in Round Two can download the published results for the Members’ Area of the website (Competitions).

After two rounds of the competition just one point separates the top five places.  Gary Hagg is the current leader with an aggregate score of 37.5, just half a point ahead of Neil Hall and Nick Lewis who are themselves half a point ahead of both William Moore and Maurice Young.  However, this could all change because at the end of the competition each entrant drops their worst round score., with just their best four round scores making up their final POTY score.

Round Three of POTY will be held on  Tuesday 3rd December 2019.  The theme is Starts with ‘S’. This is a DIGITAL round that deliberately asks you to use your imagination.  Yes, sunrises and sunsets can be very beautiful, but many more things begin with ‘S’ – you have been warned so don’t be surprised if like Steve in this round the judge takes into account creativity...!.
